Although Jackson's movie is still worlds better than the 1976 "Kong" incarnation it still falls drastically short of the wonderful original from 1933. It's tough remaking one of the greatest American films, but I thought Jackson did a fairly decent job.

you made several good points, but i have to disagree with one i particular.

the reason that memory is snape's worst is that, in snape's anger and humiliation towards james potter, he calls lily an unforgivable name, thus LOSING HER FRIENDHIP FOREVER. i don't believe that it was snape's guilt that led to that particular memory being christened his worst, but the conequences he faced.

he lost possibly the truest friend he ever had and the girl he had loved from a very early age. we discover in the seventh and final book of the saga that lily never forgave him for his words that day, despite his heartfelt apologies.

when it came down to it, he was a supporter of lord voldemort, and she most definitely was not. lily was concerned for her best friend's wellbeing, and time and time again encouraged him to desert some of the ditasteful slytherins he asociated with, but he refused to surrender his love for the dark arts.

by calling lily evans a mugblood, severus snape shattered an already fragile relationship beyond repair. it would become his worst memory.

this would have only increased snape's contempt for james potter, for snape most likely blamed potter for his lost friendship with lily. if james had not publicly humiliated severus, he might never have called lily such a horrible name as a poor attempt to salvage his dignity.

"but why would snape treat harry with such obvious disdain if his love for the boy's mother was so great?"

why, harry was a physical reminder of everything severus had lost. the only girl he ever loved, and perhaps the only friend he had ever cherished, grew up to love and marry the man who had tortured severus all throughout his time at hogwarts, the man he hated above all others.

just imagining snape having to look such pain in the eye every day during harry's time at hogwarts is heartwrenching.

and yet, snape dedicated what was left of his life to protecting the name of lily evans potter, and ensuring that her sacrifice was not in vain.

it's absolutely moving.

and u can use the live disk to boot up your own os too

alls u do is press F6, then escape, then remove the stuff before the "initrd=" stuff

then can put "root=/dev/(root-partition-number) rw" before "initrd="
and it will boot your system, it gets u into YOUR gui, to which u can do what was suggested up top in a terminal window, and you can have your system back, good as new

thats what i just did.

i do agree it needs the restore option from the DVD editions put in as a option in the live discs.

I wanted to use this for expanding my Ubuntu installation as in http://forum.ubuntu-in.info/topic/15. I thought if i had all the drivers, applications, tweaks, etc. on my flash drive, i could then reinstall Ubuntu from my live Intrepid CD and get my upgrade back using this method. However, when i went to /var/cache/apt/archives, i found and empty folder 'partial' and a locked file of "unknown type" called lock.
